Gin for Cocktails

Of the six basic spirits that are used in cocktail making, gin is most versatile.

Gin is a distilled alcoholic drink that derives its predominant flavour from juniper berries (Juniperus communis). Gin is one of the broadest categories of spirits, all of various origins, styles, and flavour profiles, that revolve around juniper as a common ingredient.

That may seem strange in view of its assertively perfumed character, but its precisely the herb spice aromatics in it’s composition that enable it to blend well with a range of liqueurs and fruit juices, and even other spirits. in addition to that, it has in common with plain vodka, white rum and silver tequila the useful attributes of colourlessness, so that it makes a natural background for some flamboyant-looking creations.
